The Philippine Cup is the PBA's all-Filipino conference: no imports, only local players. Teams play an elimination round, the best teams advance to the quarter-finals with a twice-to-beat edge for the top seeds, then best-of-seven semi-finals and finals. It is the PBA's most prestigious conference.
What decides Philippine Cup games
Without imports, depth of local talent decides it, and the San Miguel Corporation teams and TNT have long had the deepest benches. Most games are played in Metro Manila arenas that both teams share, so home court is small. PBA quarters are 12 minutes, so totals are higher than in FIBA leagues.
