Privacy policy
This policy explains what Basketora collects when you use the site, why, and what you can ask us to do with it.
When you just read the site
- We log page visits to understand what readers use: the page, the referring page, your browser type, the country your request comes from, and your IP address with its last part removed. We do not set a tracking cookie of our own for this; a visitor key that changes every day groups one visit’s pages.
- A short-lived cookie (
cc, one day) remembers your country so that advertising pixels stay off in countries where they need consent.
When you create an account
- We store your email address, an optional name, and your password as a one-way hash (we never see or store the password itself). If you sign in with Google, we store your Google account identifier instead of a password.
- Signing in sets a session cookie for up to 30 days, stored on our side only as a hash.
- If you subscribe to daily picks or the newsletter, we send those emails and keep a log of what was sent. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link.
When you pay
Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card details; we keep the subscription status, invoices and the Stripe customer reference needed to give you access.
How long we keep it
Visit logs are kept for site statistics, and our administrators delete old entries. Account data is kept while your account exists and deleted when you ask us to delete it, except invoices, which the law requires us to keep.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion, and you can object to or restrict how we use it. Write to the address on our About page. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Changes
We will update this page when what we collect changes, and change the date at the top.
