How the Basketball Champions League works
The Basketball Champions League (BCL) is FIBA's European club competition. After summer qualifiers, the regular season is played in small groups from October; the best teams move on to a second group stage, then best-of-three playoffs, and the season ends with a Final Four in spring. Its clubs come from more than twenty countries, many of them leaders of their national league.
What decides BCL games
The BCL is played midweek between domestic games, and clubs from smaller leagues often treat it as their biggest stage while clubs from strong leagues manage minutes. Long trips between very different countries make home court count, and many games are decided by shooting variance between teams of similar level. Games are 40 minutes under FIBA rules, with totals usually around 155 to 165 points.
