How the Serie A basketball season works
The Lega Basket Serie A (LBA) is Italy's top division. Its clubs play a home-and-away regular season from late September to May; the top eight go into the playoffs for the Scudetto in May and June, and the bottom of the table is relegated. Olimpia Milano and Virtus Bologna, both EuroLeague clubs, have shared most recent titles.
What decides Serie A basketball games
Milano and Virtus play twice a week in Europe, and the Sunday league game after a double-round week is where they drop points. Below them, the league is balanced, many games are decided in the last minutes, and home court is strong, especially in the smaller arenas. Games are 40 minutes under FIBA rules, with totals usually around 160 points.
Reading our Serie A basketball predictions
Each game shows the win probability, a projected score, the handicap and the total. Between mid-table teams, a 55% pick is close to a coin flip, and comparing our projected total with the line is often more useful. Before backing Milano or Virtus with a big handicap, check their EuroLeague schedule that week.
