How the NBB season works
The NBB (Novo Basquete Brasil) is Brazil's top basketball league. Its clubs play a home-and-away regular season, then the best teams go into playoff series for the national title. Franca, Flamengo, Minas and São Paulo are among the clubs that have fought for the title in recent seasons.
What decides NBB games
Distances in Brazil are huge, so travel and home court weigh a lot: clubs from the interior of São Paulo state and from other regions are hard to beat at home. The top clubs also play continental competitions, and rosters change during the season. Games are 40 minutes under FIBA rules.
